Brine: chemical resistance of ASP floors

How each ASP epoxy and polyurethane flooring product performed when fully immersed in brine, from ASP's chemical resistance guides (December 2022).

SummaryAt 20–25°C: excellent for ASP-primeStd, ASP-coat500, ASP-coat1000, ASP-coatSL, ASP-screedPTS, ASP-screedSTB and ASP-coatWBE.
30% at 20–25°C: excellent for ASP-creteSL, ASP-creteMD, ASP-creteRT, ASP-creteVS and ASP-coatPU.

Ratings come from 30 × 30 mm samples cast at each product's prescribed thickness, cured for 7 days and fully submerged at 20–25°C. On a real floor, a spill only touches the surface, so performance is usually better. Elevated temperatures accelerate chemical attack. How to read these ratings.

Questions about brine

Which ASP floors resist brine (at 20–25°C)?

Rated 5 (excellent, no significant deterioration after long-term contact): ASP-primeStd, ASP-coat500, ASP-coat1000, ASP-coatSL, ASP-screedPTS, ASP-screedSTB and ASP-coatWBE.

Which ASP floors resist brine (30% at 20–25°C)?

Rated 5 (excellent, no significant deterioration after long-term contact): ASP-creteSL, ASP-creteMD, ASP-creteRT, ASP-creteVS and ASP-coatPU.

Is epoxy flooring resistant to brine?

Some ASP epoxy systems are rated excellent for brine at at 20–25°C. Check the exact concentration and temperature in the table, as ratings change with both.

Is polyurethane flooring resistant to brine?

Some ASP polyurethane systems are rated excellent for brine at 30% at 20–25°C.
